Hello! My name is Hala, and I’d like to personally welcome you to my small piece of the vast and ever-expanding blogosphere (how overused is that word by now?). Like any first-time homeowner, I have a lot of work to do around here involving design upgrades and the like. Please bear with me as I figure it all out!
My story with journaling/writing goes way back. Back to a time when scrunchies and plastic neon-colored anything were Totally. Rad. Then, back in 2004, I discovered this new phenomenon called blogging, and in 2005 I took the plunge and started my own blog – CafeLulu. 3 years later, I was overwhelmed with new motherhood, the demands of attaining work-life balance (yes, it is a unicorn), and the self-inflicted pressure of trying to stay creative and relevant. So, CafeLulu had to go away, and I focused my energy elsewhere.
Unfortunately, by virtue of working mostly in the software industry post-graduation, thus losing all pen-holding muscle memory, and also by living in the 21st century, I never really resumed offline, physical journal-writing. This has caused the writing part of my brain to atrophy.
In the past couple of years I have attempted to find a more balanced approach to living and being, applying mindfulness to thought and deed, and seeking my own truth. And now I am ready to share my thoughts on work, life, and the space in between.
I hope you enjoy this iteration of writing experimentation!
